摘要:

年龄相关性黄斑变性(age-related macular degeneration,  AMD)是以不可逆性的中心视力下降或丧失为特征的黄斑区视网膜退行性病变。β-胡萝卜素作为重要的抗氧化剂,可有效抑制氧自由基的毒性作用,被用来预防和治疗干性AMD。然而,研究发现过多摄入β-胡萝卜素会增加吸烟者肺癌的患病风险和死亡率。因此,研究者尝试用叶黄素及玉米黄质替代β-胡萝卜素,期望其抗氧化作用对AMD的治疗有所帮助,目前研究中观察到了其可降低AMD危险性的现象,但其机制尚不清楚,仍需进一步研究探讨。

Abstract:

Age-related macular degeneration(AMD)is featured as a macular degeneration of irreversible decline or loss of central vision. β-carotene is capable of inhibiting cytotoxicity of oxygen free radicals serving as an effective antioxidant and was used to intervent the development of AMD. However,  evidences demonstrated that high risk of lung cancer and morbidity increased with excessive intake of β-carotene among smokers. Therefore, the lutein and zeaxanthin were considered as the replacement to be studied in the current researches. The results show some protective effects of them for the AMD. But the mechanisms are not clear yet. The further studies are still neccessary.
