Myopic traction maculopathy(MTM)is a primary complication that causes blindness in patients with high myopia. Anterior retinal traction (vitreous traction, anterior retinal traction, and inner limiting membrane traction), posterior retinal traction (posterior scleral staphyloma, axial elongation), and retinal factors are thought to be the main mechanisms in its pathogenesis. The treatment of myopic traction maculopathy is mainly surgery, and there are different surgical options for different traction forces, such as pars plana vitrectomy, internal limiting membrane removal, epiretinal membrane removal, posterior scleral reinforcement and macular buckling, etc. (Int Rev Ophthalmol, 2024, 48: 69-74)
