Abstract:

Familial aggregation refers that the incidence of a disease among family members is higher than the expected rate in the general population.  The research on the familial clustering can help us find the high-risk family,  thus we can take effective active intervention ahead of time,  such as high-risk family care. We can reduce the happening of the disease or delay the development of the disease to a certain extent.  Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the major diabetic microvascular complications,  which is one of the main reasons of adult blindness. Some epidemiological investigations and clinical practices found that there is a familial aggregation of DR,  but there is no unanimous conclusion among different races,  regions and people.
