Biocompatibility evaluation of intraocular lens materials

摘要: 超声乳化白内障摘除联合人工晶状体 (intraocular lens, IOL)植入术是目前白内障患者重见光明的最有效方法。作为一种体内植入的生物材料,IOL可以在眼内引起一系列生物学反应。IOL的生物相容性评价遵循两大原则,一是生物安全性原则, 二是生物功能性原则。生物安全性评价主要包括细胞毒性试验、遗传毒性试验、刺激和致敏试验以及植入试验。生物功能性评价主要包括葡萄膜生物相容性和囊膜生物相容性的评价。

Abstract: Phacoemulsification cataract extraction and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation is the most effective method for cataract patients. As the implanted biomaterials, IOL can initiate a series of biological reactions. IOL biocompatibility evaluation follows two major principles, which are bio-safety and bio-function principles. Biosafety evaluation includes cytotoxicity tests, genetic toxicity tests, irritation and sensitization test, as well as implantation test. Biofunction evaluation includes the evaluations of uveal biocompatibility and capsular biocompatibility.
