Abstract:
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the diseases resulting in blindness which happens among people over 50 years old in the world. Compared to dry AMD, the development of wet AMD is more quickly and is the main cause of decreased visual acuity and vision loss . The treatments of wet AMD mainly include laser treatment, surgery treatment, drug treatment, radiation therapy and gene therapy. Photodynamic therapy, and anti-VEGF drugs became the hot spots in the treatment of wet AMD. Anti-platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), radiation therapy and gene therapy provide the new thoughts for the treatment of wet AMD.
