The water-drinking test for efficacy evaluation of glaucoma diagnosis and treatment

Abstract:

Elevation of pathological intraocular pressure (IOP) has been considered an important risk factor for glaucoma onset and progression. The water-drinking test (WDT) is a stress test which can elevate IOP in a short time. It can be an important tool to evaluate IOP peaks and instability, which has certain practical value in evaluate hypotensive medications’ control effect, progression of visual field defect and filtration surgery of glaucoma. The main objective of this review was to present new findings and to discuss the applicability of the WDT in glaucoma. (Int Rev Ophthalmol,  2017,  41:   181-186)
