Advances in the pathogenic factors of acanthamoeba keratitis

Abstract: The increasing use of contact lenses worldwide has led to an increase in cases of acanthamoeba keratitis. This review summarized the results of the pathogenic factors of acanthamoeba keratitis, including the demographic features of the patients ( gender, age, profession), time of presentation, geographical distribution, and predisposing risk factors(contact lens wear, ocular trauma, ocular surgery, coexistent ocular disease or mixed-infection) from different countries in recent years.
